Summary of Job: The Peer Recovery Specialist assists clients with sharing personal goals for recovery as well as teaching clients problem solving skills, how to identify and combat negative self-talk, navigate the criminal justice system, connect to community resources, and how to identify and overcome fears.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervisory Responsibilities for: This title does not supervise others.
Assist clients in determining reasonable and holistic steps moving into recovery and identifying barriers to recovery goals.
Assist with identifying personal strengths in daily living and recovery skills.
Assist staff in identifying program elements that are supportive or destructive to recovery.
Facilitate evidence based protocol
Engage patients in exercise/physical activity.
Regular and Reliable attendance is required.
Job Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED required. Self-identify as an individual in recovery from mental health and/or substance use. Must be maintaining healthy recovery and have the ability to tell story of recovery to provide hope and encouragement to others. Must be able to verify completion of state-approved training program and passing score on certification exam. Candidates must be computer literate in Microsoft Office, Word, Outlook, and select programs required to carry out the duties of the position. Must have good communication skills and have the ability to communicate with diverse groups i.e., clients, staff, court officials, etc. Satisfactory driving record and reliable transportation is required.
